McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release
The McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release Technique (MSTR) is an amazing advancement in the treatment of scar tissue, and is changing the lives of people and animals alike.
The repair process that occurs when the skin is lacerated results in a thickened fibrous mass we know as a scar. Blood and lymph fluids cannot flow as freely through the scar, and nerve conduction is also impeded. Over time this is likely to have an affect on surrounding previously healthy tissue, and may end up causing decreased range of motion and dysfunctional joint movement, as well as structural changes in other systems and impeding organ function.
"The effects of post-surgical scars on the human body cannot be underestimated." Alistair McLoughlin developed MSTR.
"If the scar is untreated, it may be the cause of therapeutic failure and recurrence." Karel Lewitt MD and Sarka Olsanka, researchers.
The effect of scar tissue on the physical body is just the beginning. Ever scar represents an event that created that scar, and many of these events are traumatic:
When the physical attributes of the scar change, the emotional and psychological effects associated with the trauma often can improve as well.
MSTR gently helps to normalise scar tissue so that blood and lymph flow can be restored to the area, and nerves can function more normally. Once the scar tissue has been normalised with MSTR it is generally observed to remain normal rather than tending to revert back to the dysfunctional pattern.

- Emergency life-threatening surgeries
- War wounds
- Personal attacks (knife wounds, bullet wounds)
- Car accidents
- Numerous other types of accidents in the home or at work
- Non-emergency surgeries.
